Working with Clients

A little about me and my approach

I firmly believe the relationship between client and therapist - i.e. you and me -  is critical to one’s evolution and growth in therapy. So let me introduce myself and see if my approach and background sounds comforting to you while you start or resume your journey.

I decided it was time to start my own private practice in 2022 after working for over 10 years as a clinical social worker and program manager in large hospital systems in Minnesota and Utah. I’ve worked in large organizations managing programs, as well as helping individuals navigate healthcare crises, life transitions, unexpected diagnoses and trauma, and institutions or organizations that did not respect their unique care needs or autonomy, especially families and individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. I am a WPATH GEI SOC8 Certified Member.

I approach therapeutic work with a foundation of supportive and strengths-based approaches to building trust and rapport. I am trained in EMDR therapy & Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and I am Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed. Theoretically, I use a psychodynamic and attachment perspectives to understand your life, experiences, and narrative.

Are you scratching your head and wondering what this all means?!

Here’s the deal: I believe the family, friends, partners/spouses, colleagues and organizations/institutions you have interacted with throughout your life have impacted you in significant ways! Its important to understand this, evaluate it together, and decide how to move forward.
